White River Baptist Church is so honored to represent OCC and Greene County as the collection site for all the shoeboxes.  We are so excited to see our community respond to the needs of children all over the world.  So many Greene County churches, businesses, and individuals, each year, wear their hearts on their sleeves and respond to the call.  This year our community blew away last year’s record of 675 shoeboxes by increasing to 1,041 (a 65% increase over last year.)  Needless to say, the Greene County collection site coordinator, Tammy Hart, is doing cartwheels!  On top of that record, and maybe even more important than that, more of our churches this year matched the number of shoeboxes with the purchase of The Greatest Journey packets.  Through The Greatest Journey discipleship program, boys and girls become faithful followers of Jesus Christ.  As shoebox gifts are distributed, children also receive these packets in their own language.  Leaders, then, present the Gospel in a fun way designed for kids while family and friends listen in.  Thus the eternal value of these packets is tremendous and Greene County donated over 300 Greatest Journey packets to go along with the 1041 shoeboxes.  Although we are a small community, Greene County has responded in a big way to God’s call to be His witnesses in our Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.  And to that we at White River Baptist Church say Amen and Amen!
